When I was in Paris with my family a few weeks ago, the canal boat rides instantly became one of our favorite Paris activity. It is a great activity you can enjoy with your friends or family on a lazy sunny afternoon. The canal trip passes through the Porte de l’Arsenal and Bassin de la Villette on Canal St-Martin. As far as I can remember, the whole trip took about 3 hours to complete and costs around €13. I heard there is also another trip which sails through Musée d’Orsay and the Parc de la Villette. I am definitely trying that when I return to Paris.
I visited some friends in Paris a few months ago and they taught me a classic Parisian game that is actually very popular. If I am not mistaken they call it Boules, and I actually found it very entertaining. The game involves the use of metal balls and a wooden marker. The idea of the game is to get the large balls as close as possible to the small ones or also called as “jack”. They told me there are two popular versions of Boules, the Petanque and the Boule Lyonnaise. This game is like one of those games that we used to play during our childhood years. It definitely stirred my inner childhood!
I totally agree, Paris is really a great venue for almost all kids of sports; from soccer to swimming. But what I really love about Paris is that they have a lot of cycling lanes perfect for bike riders. I for one love to go biking every now and then and I consider it a great exercise. I live in a city where unfortunately there are no lanes for bike riders. That is why I applaud Paris for taking the initiative to make special lanes for bikers. I believe this will not only minimize traffic, but it can greatly decrease the amount of pollution being emitted by cars.
