Paris Government is largely instrumental active in the proper administration and governance of the city. Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements which are actually districts. Each of the arrondissement has a mayor and a local council. Still the mayor of Paris leads the council and holds the most power, and is elected by the City Council of Paris.
The city government of Paris was very much concern with their international relationships with major cities of the world and neighboring countries thus try to establish a good atmosphere with them. The government of Paris signed important pacts and agreements of mutual cooperation and amity with many cities between 1958 and 2004. Kyoto, Tokyo, Cairo, Amman, Berlin, Seoul, Moscow, Jakarta, Quebec, Chicago, San Francisco, Riyadh, Beijing, Santiago, Saint-Petersburg, Lisbon, Mexico, London, Alger and Sao Paulo are some of the cities which the government of Paris fosters and maintains harmonious relations. Rome is known as the ‘Sister City’ of the French capital.
The Paris City Hall or Hotel de Ville (City Hall) is not only the main administrative structure of the city, it is also a place where the tourists can learn and discover about Paris’ history and custom and tradition of the city. The Paris City Hall is located on the bank of Seine River, also a very historic structure. It was built in the 14th century but it has been modified in years and used by significant rulers and governments. At first the administration of the city was managed by government-appointed Prefect. In 1975 a law was passed thus Paris was developed into municipality and is headed by a mayor being elected by the citizens itself.

Paris is definitely a huge city, I mean it can practically stand alone with its booming economy and hardworking people. When I was in Paris 2 months ago, I actually admire how the city was lead by its government officials. I mean, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to run a city as important and as huge as Paris; which is probably why this city was divided into different arrondissements. For a city as big and as competitive as Paris, I applaud the efforts of the government for how they are running the city now.
I live in a huge city as well, and let me tell you our government is not as organized as that of Paris. I was given the privilege to visit Paris last year, and during my stay I was able to compare how the government officials in Paris and in my hometown run the city. What I love about the government set-up in Paris is that it is organized and the fact that there are leaders to every arrondissement makes the officials closer to the citizens. A city as big as Paris will definitely have a lot of problems, so the fact that there are leaders in every arrondissement will make the communication more personal and faster, something our government doesn’t have.
Definitely correct. The idea of subdividing the city to 20 arrondissements makes the supervision of the officials an easy one. Truly, the City of Paris encounters lot of issues and problems because of the fact that there are a lot of establishments and facilities they have to maintain. Keeping peace in Paris is one heck of a job. Dividing it into these sectors also means sharing the responsibilities, making their tasks more detailed and specific which turns out to be effective. Including the fact that there are numerous visitors who comes to Paris annually because of the exciting tourist spots, government officials will always be busy on keeping the city organized as much as possible.
The Government always play a vital role in every city. In Paris, not only that it governs the city but also gives facts about the history of Paris and what it undergone in the past. The government in Paris, similar to other cities, is by the people, from the people and for the people. They are given the privilege to choose their own leaders through election.
